The organizers of the Granfondo Campagnolo Roma have shown this Sunday, October 12, 2014 to the Cyclosportive world that the combining culture and heritage with a major sporting event can create a phenomenal success!
5,000 cyclists at the steps of the Colosseum in Rome has created an indelible image in the history of the Cyclosport activity.
UCI Eco-Cyclo Team , invited by the organizer Gianluca Santilli , wish to express our gratitude for having been able to participate in this great parade as a climax to a 2014 that has brought our message to a global audience.
The 80 members of the UCI Eco-Cyclo Team have participated in 49 events throughout the year in France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Belgium, Slovenia, Australia and Polynesia, and made direct contact with more than 170,000 cyclists in an educational role with the riders. Another goal of the mission was advising organizers who want to develop an eco-friendly plan to manage the impact to the natural environment.
The parcours must be pollution-free, we believe our duty is to keep them intact to future generations. A big 'Thank You' to all Organizers of the events and especially to the UCI , who recognize us and allow us to work in harmony and serenity.
The Granfondo Campagnolo Roma was also an opportunity for Renato Di Rocco , President of the Italian Cycling Federation and the Commission Mass Events UCI , to formally present to Jean Luc Chavanon , a member of the UCI Eco Cyclo Team, the rainbow jersey and the Gold Medal for the World Champion Amateur (Class 50/54 years) he won in Ljubljana (Slovenia). Jean Luc was previously deprived of the presentation due to a misinterpretation of the photo finish.
In 2015, the UCI Eco Cyclo Team will have a world champion as a spokesperson, a great honor and a great story for the cause! ...
